Selling company data from outside the US

Most of the AI labs on this site take companies from outside the US. Mode buys only from companies in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia, and License My Data takes closed companies from ten countries. For private code, Pangea and Miro Advisory publish no country limit.

Estimates outside the US start lower
micro1's and Telegraph's estimators multiply the US figure by 0.75 for Canada and Europe, and by 0.3 for everywhere else. Neither lists the UK, so a UK company picks Europe. Grepped's estimate is the same in every country. The worth estimator runs all three for your country.
Records that name people need a legal route to the US
Emails, chats and tickets name customers and staff, so sending them to a US buyer is a transfer of personal data under your privacy law. That holds even when the buyer removes the names after it receives them. From the EU, personal data can go to US companies on the Data Privacy Framework list, and since October 12, 2023, UK companies can send it to the ones certified to the list's UK extension. Anywhere else, ask a local lawyer before any records leave the country. The rights checklist covers the other steps.
A US buyer may hold back 30% for tax
The IRS rate on a US royalty paid to a company abroad is usually 30%, unless a tax treaty lowers it. You claim your country's rate by giving the buyer Form W-8BEN-E, and the IRS lists each country's rates in its tax treaty tables. Ask your accountant whether your license counts as a royalty.
