What Dataconto stores when you use the fit check, the worth calculator or a buyer link, why, who sees it, and how to have it deleted.

Published October 19, 2026. Last checked October 20, 2026

1. Who we are

Dataconto shows owners of company records and private source code which buyers would license what they have, and introduces them to a buyer when they ask. We don't receive your records or your code.

The data controller is Pietro Romeo, sole trader, Italy, VAT IT03173170808. Write to privacy@dataconto.com about anything on this page.

2. What we store, and when

When you finish the fit check

We store your answers, the result they produced, a random ID made in your browser for that visit, the page you were on, the site that sent you and any UTM tags in the address. Your name, email and IP address are not part of that record, so on its own it doesn't tell us who you are. We use it to count completed checks and see which answers are common.

When you ask for an introduction

We store:

  • Your name, email address and company name
  • Anything you write in the notes box
  • Your fit check answers and result
  • Which boxes you ticked, the exact wording next to them, and the time you sent the form
  • The page you sent it from, the site that referred you and any UTM tags
  • The ID of the fit check you finished, which links your request to that check's record

The form has no upload. What we hold is your description of what you own and the contact details you gave us.

When you click through to a buyer

Links to buyers pass through our own address first. We record which buyer, the page you clicked from, the time, whether the link carried our referral code, and whether the visit looks automated. We judge that from your browser's headers and don't store the headers. If the click came from a fit check result, we also store that check's random ID. None of this includes your name or email.

When you use the worth calculator

The calculator counts your code in your browser. If you use a GitHub token, it goes from your browser to GitHub and nowhere else, and it's gone when you close the page. If you pick a local folder, the files are read on your machine and never uploaded. We store the mode you used, how many repositories were listed and priced, the total rounded to the dollar, whose rate priced it, and the page. We never store a repository name, owner, file path or token.

When you email us

We keep the email and our reply so we can follow up. Mail to our dataconto.com addresses is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a Gmail inbox, and we reply from Gmail.

Site analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies, doesn't follow you across sites and doesn't store your IP address. It records the page, the referring site, and your browser, device type and country.

3. Why we use it

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, these are our legal bases under the GDPR:

  • Your introduction request: taking the steps you asked for. We read it and reply about it.
  • Passing your details to a buyer: your consent, given by ticking that box.
  • Fit check, click and calculator records, analytics and site security: our legitimate interest in knowing which pages and buyers are useful and in keeping the site free of abuse.

4. Who sees it

Buyers. If you tick the box asking us to, we send your name, email, company name, notes and fit check answers to the buyers your answers fit. Each buyer then contacts you directly and handles your details under its own privacy policy, as a separate controller. Without that box, your details stay with us.

Service providers. Cloudflare hosts the site and the database, forwards our email and runs our analytics. Google runs the Gmail inbox. Both process data for us under their own terms: Cloudflare's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy.

The law. We may disclose information if a law, court order or government request requires it.

We don't sell personal data, and we don't share it for advertising.

5. Where it's stored

The database is Cloudflare D1. Cloudflare runs a global network, so requests can be handled in the United States and other countries outside the EEA. For those transfers, Cloudflare relies on the EU standard contractual clauses and its certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and Google does the same for Gmail.

6. How long we keep it

  • Introduction requests and emails: until you ask us to delete them, or 24 months after our last contact with you, whichever comes first.
  • Fit check, click and calculator records: kept as long as the site runs. Once an introduction request is deleted, nothing links its fit check to you.

If your details have gone to a buyer at your request, the buyer keeps its own copy under its own terms. Ask the buyer to delete that one. We can tell you which buyers received your details.

7. Cookies

We don't set cookies. Cloudflare may set a security cookie to tell people from bots. It's needed for the site to work and isn't used for tracking.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR you can:

  • Get a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Have it corrected or deleted
  • Get it in a machine-readable format
  • Object to how we use it
  • Withdraw your consent to share it with buyers. We stop from that point, though a buyer that already received it keeps its copy
  • Complain to a data protection authority. Ours is Italy's Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, and you can also go to the one where you live

If you live in a US state with a privacy law, such as California, you have the right to know, correct and delete your data. You don't need to opt out of a sale, because we don't sell it. People anywhere else can ask for the same things.

Email privacy@dataconto.com. We reply within 30 days.

9. Security

The site runs over HTTPS. The admin view of the database sits behind a password, and only the founder has it. No system is perfectly secure, so keep anything sensitive out of the notes box.

10. Age

Dataconto is for adults who own a company's records or its code. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think we have, write to us and we'll delete it.

11. Links to buyers

When you follow a link to a buyer or accept an introduction, the buyer's own privacy policy covers what you give it. Read it before you send anything.

12. Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a change affects how we use details you've already given us, we'll email you first.
