It takes about two minutes and shows whether Patronus AI would take your code.
Details on who qualifies
Patronus takes three kinds of material: private software that runs or ran in production, a company’s records, and the code and assets behind a released game. It publishes no size minimum. Its form asks whether the company is operating, winding down, closed or acquired, so all four can apply.
What matters is who holds the rights. That can be the company that built it, a former owner who kept the rights after a closure or sale, or a company that bought them. Patronus asks you to confirm your authority before you send a sample, with an IP assignment, an acquisition agreement or a written authorization. Code written by contractors or agencies needs written IP assignments.
Details on pay
Patronus publishes no prices. Its online estimate is “indicative”, and the offer comes after a sample review. For code it weighs the code, its development history, tests and supporting material. For records it weighs volume, history and how the systems connect. The license is non-exclusive, and Patronus pays you directly once it accepts the data.
What Patronus does with your material
Patronus is a research lab that studies where AI models fail. It licenses for its own work, building AI training and evaluation tasks, and says it does not resell your code or records. Your agreement is with Patronus, and it pays you without waiting for another buyer.
Nothing is shared before you sign an NDA and its sample terms. You can leave out records that belong to clients, are privileged or are confidential, and personal information is handled under terms you agree. If the deal doesn’t go ahead, Patronus deletes what you shared and confirms it in writing.
How it works
- Tell Patronus what you have. A few details about the company and the material. No export or access is needed.
- Sample and offer. If it fits, Patronus reviews a sample under NDA and makes a written offer: price, scope and delivery checks.
- Full review. If you accept, you share the full set and Patronus has up to 30 days to review it.
- Payment. Once Patronus accepts the data, it pays you.
Released games
Patronus is the only company we list that takes games. It wants a released game’s original code, its assets and the development history behind it. Its form asks for the engine and version, whether the studio changed the engine’s code, the store or release page, the platforms and release year, and how much of the game uses third-party assets.
List middleware, music, fonts, asset packs and licensed characters up front. Patronus uses that list to confirm what the license covers. The form also asks who owns the code and original assets, so check your publishing contract before you start.
Before you apply
- Find the paper that shows you hold the rights: an IP assignment, an acquisition agreement or a written authorization.
- Check that contractor and agency work was assigned to you in writing.
- Know which records belong to clients, so you can leave them out.
- Keep the development history. Patronus prices the code together with its commits, tests and supporting material.
- For a game, list the third-party content and its licenses, and check whether the publisher owns any rights.
