AI training

Does the vendor train AI on it?

PlanAnswerCovers
Starter Opt-out: on unless the customer turns it off customer content in team files, when content training is on
Professional Opt-out: on unless the customer turns it off customer content in team files, when content training is on
Organization No* customer content in organization files
Enterprise No* customer content in organization files
  1. Headline Starter, Professional covers customer content in team files, when content training is on

Opt-out: on unless the customer turns it off

By default, content training is turned on for Professional teams.

Manage AI settings and content training for your team or organization (help article), read 2026-10-26 · link to this fact

Same article: "By default, content training is turned on for Starter teams." and "Admins of a Starter team can toggle off content training at any time in the team's settings." The AI Terms (3) let Figma use Customer Content to improve its products when the toggle is on. One setting covers 'AI models', so both parts carry the same answer.

  2. Headline Organization, Enterprise covers customer content in organization files

    No*

By default, content training is turned off on Organization and Enterprise plans.

Manage AI settings and content training for your team or organization (help article), read 2026-10-26 · link to this fact

Reading: the same article says content training "can't be toggled on right now" for these plans, so no customer can turn it on; scored 'no' rather than opt-in.

  3. Detail Every plan covers content and edits added after the toggle is turned off

    Generative: opt-out

new Customer Content and edits added after the date the toggle was turned off will not be used to train AI models.

Figma AI Terms (ai policy), read 2026-10-26 · link to this fact

Figma AI Terms, section 4. Content shared before the toggle was turned off is not withdrawn by the clause.

  4. Supporting Every plan covers Figma for Education and Figma for Government accounts

    No

We do not use any data from Figma for Education or Figma for Government accounts for model training.

Our approach to AI (content training) (ai policy), read 2026-10-26 · link to this fact

Our approach to AI. Same page: "we de-identify content and redact sensitive information including from text and images" and content training "went into effect on August 15, 2024".

Aggregated use

Does the vendor keep a right to use it aggregated, de-identified or as usage data?

Reserved · covers personal information and usage data, de-identified and aggregated

  1. Headline Every plan covers personal information and usage data, de-identified and aggregated

    Reserved

We may choose to de-identify and create aggregated information out of any personal information you provide to us.

Figma Privacy Policy (privacy policy), read 2026-10-26 · link to this fact

Privacy Policy section 4, item 13. The Terms of Service (2.7) let Figma use Usage Data (logs, metadata, telemetry) in de-identified and aggregated form to improve its products, and say Usage Data excludes Customer Content itself.

What you can export

What can the customer export, and who can run it?

Everything by any member through a self-serve screen* · covers each file, with its layers, as a .fig file; assets as images

  1. Headline Every plan covers each file, with its layers, as a .fig file; assets as images

Everything by any member through a self-serve screen*

The entire file as a .fig file.

Export static designs from Figma (help article), read 2026-10-26 · link to this fact

Reading: the article is "Available on any plan" and lets anyone with view access export unless the file's owner restricted copying and sharing; exporting is file by file, there is no one-click export of a whole team, so 'all' means everything can be exported, one file at a time.

History kept

How much history does the plan keep?

PlanAnswerCovers
Starter 30 days, older data hidden, not deleted version history (current files are kept while the team exists)
Professional All of it* version history (current files are kept while the team exists)
Organization All of it* version history (current files are kept while the team exists)
Enterprise All of it* version history (current files are kept while the team exists)
  1. Headline Starter covers version history (current files are kept while the team exists)

30 days, older data hidden, not deleted

Users working in their Drafts or on the Starter plan can only access up to 30 days of version history.

View a file's version history (help article), read 2026-10-26 · link to this fact

deletes_older=false because upgrading restores the older versions: "Upgrade to a paid plan to immediately access the full version history of any existing files."

  2. Headline Professional, Organization, Enterprise covers version history (current files are kept while the team exists)

    All of it*

Upgrade to a paid plan to immediately access the full version history of any existing files.

View a file's version history (help article), read 2026-10-26 · link to this fact

Reading: 'the full version history' with no limit stated for paid plans. No page read gives a number of days for Professional, Organization or Enterprise.

After the account ends

How long is data kept after the account ends, and can it still be exported?

30 days to export · covers all customer content

  1. Headline Every plan covers all customer content

    30 days to export

available to you for electronic retrieval for a period of 30 days

Figma Terms of Service (terms), read 2026-10-26 · link to this fact

Terms of Service 8.2(b): on termination Figma makes Customer Content available for 30 days, "thereafter Figma may delete any stored Customer Content".

  2. Supporting Every plan covers customer content, as the customer directs at termination

    30 days to export

delete or return all Customer Content within thirty (30) days

Figma Data Processing Addendum (data processing addendum), read 2026-10-26 · link to this fact

DPA section 5; Figma may keep content only where data protection law requires it.

  3. Detail Every plan covers a team the owner deletes

    28 days to export

The team owner, or an admin of the team has 28 days to restore the deleted team

Delete a team (help article), read 2026-10-26 · link to this fact

Same article: "before Figma will permanently delete files and folders." and, for paid plans, "you need to cancel your subscription before you cancel the team" with access kept for the rest of the subscription period. Export during the 28 days means restoring the team first.

What the read couldn't settle

  • Content training is one setting that covers 'AI models' without splitting generative from other models, so both parts carry the same answer.
  • On Organization and Enterprise the help article says content training 'can't be toggled on right now'; scored 'no' for those plans rather than opt-in, since no customer can turn it on.
  • Export formats beyond .fig (PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF) sit on a separate export-settings article that was not read; formats lists only FIG.
  • Paid-plan version history is read as 'all of it' from 'the full version history'; no page states a number of days for paid plans. The pricing table shows '30 days' in the version history row without naming the plan.
  • First read 2026-10-26; second read pending.
