SimpleClosure alternatives: shutdown services and data buyers

Shutdown services from $99 that close a company without a data sale attached, and the AI companies that license a closed company's records directly.

SimpleClosure closes the company and sells its data in one package: it handles the dissolution, and its AssetHub lists the company’s code and workspace data for buyers. The alternatives split in two. Shutdown-only services file the paperwork for a published price, from $99. And four of the AI companies we list license a closed company’s records directly, whoever filed the dissolution. You can use one of each.

SimpleClosure: a shutdown with a data marketplace attached

SimpleClosure describes AssetHub as a way to “monetize your assets to recover value during shutdown” and runs a page for data asset buyers. MIT Technology Review reported in October 2026 that AssetHub has handled over 150 deals, that 47% of SimpleClosure’s shutdowns now include a code or data sale, and that one founder netted roughly $25,000 for his code base. SimpleClosure doesn’t publish a price for the shutdown itself; its calculator gives an estimate, and Stripe Atlas founders get 10% off.

That is the full-service option: one vendor, one process, and the data sale runs through its marketplace. The trade is that the buyers and the terms are the marketplace’s.

Or file it yourself

A Delaware corporation dissolves by filing a certificate of dissolution with the Division of Corporations after the board and stockholders approve it. Delaware law then continues the corporation for three years to settle its affairs, “to dispose of and convey their property” and to pay what it owes. That process doesn’t need a service. It does need a person who can still act for the company, which who can sign for a closed company covers.

Four listed AI companies license a closed company’s records directly

None of these needs the shutdown to run through any particular service.

  • micro1 has a program for companies that are no longer operating. It asks for 50+ employees at peak, substantial Slack or Microsoft Teams history, records in English, and a company based in the US, the UK, Canada, India, Australia, Singapore, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany or France.
  • Turing buys a company’s whole operating record in one deal, running, winding down or already closed, for a single payout of up to $1M. Someone with the authority to approve and transfer the records has to sign.
  • Maryah publishes no size or country limit, so it is the one to ask for a smaller company.
  • License My Data takes closed companies with 50+ employees at peak and Slack or Teams history in English.

The fit check runs your company against each one’s published terms. If one fits, we pass your name and answers to it and the deal is between you and the company.

Export first, license second, dissolve last

  1. Export before you cancel anything. Slack’s free plan deletes old history, Google deletes a canceled Workspace’s data, and a deleted workspace is gone. Sell company data after shutdown has each tool’s clock.
  2. License while someone can still sign. A director can bind the company during wind-down. After dissolution the path is harder, and after a UK strike-off there is nobody left. Who owns a dissolved company’s data explains what happens then.
  3. Then file, through a service or yourself.

Keep the exports, the paid plans and one person who can sign

  • Full exports of Slack or Teams, email, tickets, documents and databases, on a drive you control.
  • The paid plans, until a buyer has sampled the history.
  • Admin access for one named person with authority to sign for the company.
  • A short inventory: tools, years of history, headcount at peak, and where each export sits.
