An asterisk marks our reading of the text rather than its words; the fact's note says what it rests on. "The terms don't say" means every contract, AI page and data processing addendum was read. Not legal advice.

Who owns it

Who owns the data the customer puts in?

The customer* · covers all customer content

  1. Headline Every plan covers all customer content

    The customer*

you own all Your Content or have obtained all permissions, releases, rights or licenses required to engage in posting and other activities

Terms of Service (terms), read 2026-10-22 · link to this fact

Inferred: Terms (s.15.1) has the customer warrant ownership and (s.3) grants Vercel only a non-exclusive license to Your Content 'to provide and improve the Services'; no clause assigns ownership to Vercel. No explicit 'customer owns' sentence in Terms or DPA.

AI training

Does the vendor train AI on it?

PlanAnswerCovers
Hobby Opt-out: on unless the customer turns it off all customer content
Pro Opt-in: off unless the customer turns it on all customer content
Enterprise No* all customer content
  1. Headline Hobby covers all customer content

Opt-out: on unless the customer turns it off

if you are on a Hobby plan or trial Pro plan, you agree that we may use Your Content to train our artificial intelligence ("AI") and machine learning models

Terms of Service (terms), read 2026-10-22 · link to this fact

On by default for Hobby and Pro trial; same section: 'You may opt-out of Model Training at any time by adjusting your Team account settings or by upgrading to an Enterprise plan.' Also allows sharing Your Content with third parties to train their models. The same sentence covers a trial of Pro, which is filed under Hobby here.

  2. Headline Pro covers all customer content

Opt-in: off unless the customer turns it on

If you are on a paid Pro plan, Model Training is not enabled by default and you may opt in to Model Training.

Terms of Service (terms), read 2026-10-22 · link to this fact

    Terms s.3.

  3. Headline Enterprise covers all customer content

    No*

You may opt-out of Model Training at any time by adjusting your Team account settings or by upgrading to an Enterprise plan.

Terms of Service (terms), read 2026-10-22 · link to this fact

Enterprise read from upgrading being an opt-out route; DPA (Enterprise) says Vercel processes Customer Data as a processor per Customer instructions and does not mention training. Contradiction check, 2026-10-22: the quote is about opting out; "no" is our reading that Enterprise is the opt-out route (basis inferred).

Aggregated use

Does the vendor keep a right to use it aggregated, de-identified or as usage data?

Reserved · covers system data (telemetry, logs, usage)

  1. Headline Every plan covers system data (telemetry, logs, usage)

    Reserved

Vercel may (during and after the term of this Agreement) (i) use System Data for any business purposes in its sole discretion, and (ii) disclose such data solely in aggregate or de-identified form in connection with its business.

Terms of Service (terms), read 2026-10-22 · link to this fact

s.11.4 System Data: Vercel 'retains all right, title and interest' in traffic data, telemetry, logs generated from the Services and usage statistics. DPA lets Vercel use Service-Generated Data for 'analytics, benchmarking, and reporting'.

What you can export

What can the customer export, and who can run it?

PlanAnswerCovers
Hobby Part of it through the API deployment source files
Pro Part of it through the API deployment source files
Enterprise Everything through a self-serve screen all customer data
  1. Headline Hobby, Pro, Enterprise covers deployment source files

Part of it through the API

Allows to retrieve the content of a file by supplying the file identifier and the deployment unique identifier.

REST API: Get Deployment File Contents (help article), read 2026-10-22 · link to this fact

Deployment source files via REST API (GET /v8/deployments/{id}/files/{fileId}); file tree only for deployments created with the CLI or API 'files' key (List Deployment Files page). Which roles may call it is not stated on these pages. No dashboard bulk export of runtime logs found.

  2. Detail Pro, Enterprise covers logs and traces from now on, no past data

Part of it through a self-serve screen or the API

Drains are available to all users on the Pro and Enterprise plans.

Working with Drains (docs) (help article), read 2026-10-22 · link to this fact

Drains forward logs, traces, analytics, speed insights to external endpoints going forward (not a historical export). Audit Log Drains Enterprise only; Hobby and Pro trial must upgrade. Roles not stated.

  3. Headline Enterprise covers all customer data

    Everything through a self-serve screen

Customers may delete or export Customer Data at any time while using the Services in a manner consistent with the functionality of the Service.

Data Processing Addendum (data processing addendum), read 2026-10-22 · link to this fact

DPA s.12; DPA applies to Enterprise plan agreements. 'all' is the contractual wording, bounded by 'consistent with the functionality of the Service'; no format named.

After the account ends

How long is data kept after the account ends, and can it still be exported?

No fixed window; export not stated · covers all customer content

  1. Headline Hobby, Pro covers all customer content

No fixed window; export not stated

All of Your Content on the Services (if any) may be permanently deleted by Vercel upon any termination of your account.

Terms of Service (terms), read 2026-10-22 · link to this fact

No day count, no post-termination export window in Terms.

  2. Headline Enterprise covers all customer data

No fixed window; export not stated

Termination or expiration of the Agreement serves as instruction for Vercel to delete all Customer Data within a commercially reasonable timeframe.

Data Processing Addendum (data processing addendum), read 2026-10-22 · link to this fact

DPA s.12: export is offered 'while using the Services'; no window after termination is promised and no day count given. Vercel may retain data if required by law.

What the read couldn't settle

  • ownership is inferred from the s.15.1 warranty and the non-exclusive license in s.3; neither Terms nor DPA says in so many words that the customer owns Your Content.
  • No standalone AI policy page found (vercel.com/legal/ai-policy and /docs/ai-policy return 404); training terms sit in Terms s.3 and the Privacy Notice. v0 has separate terms not read here.
  • Enterprise ai_training 'no' is read from 'upgrading to an Enterprise plan' being an opt-out route; the DPA itself is silent on training.
  • Export: roles allowed to call the deployment-files API or set up drains not stated on the pages read; no bulk historical log export found in Runtime Logs docs.
  • Version dates for docs pages are the docs sitemap 'Lastmod' values, not dates printed on the page.
  • after_cancel: no day count in any document; team/account deletion docs give steps but no retention period.
